I think there is an unfair stigma attached to lone drinkers, it is treated as the badge of an alcoholic. If you are dependant on drink to get through the day - then this is worrying, not the fact that you enjoy the odd tipple in your own company. When drinking solo, I tend to drink slower and savour the taste of the alcohol - be it rum and coke, or a glass of red wine.. there is no rush to conform with others drinking speed, or to get onto the next round of
jagermeister & get up on the dancefloor.I only wish I had half the creative zest of Bukowski, who turned his drinking sessions into amazing novels & short stories... I turn mine into evenings singing along in front of 'YouTube', playing Warcraft, and blogging!
Ah well, 24 is still too young to be completely jaded, cynical & have a set view of the world... maybe a few more years of sporadic solo drinking will turn me into a poet laurete yet.
